Today, March 21, 2014 marks the first official meeting of the LHFCC (Lorimer Holan Film Critics Club). The Lorimers and The Holans have joined forces to grace the world with their intellectual prowess by way of movie reviews. And of course you all care what they think about movies, because they are brilliant. And more than likely the coolest people you know.
The first movie we viewed tonight was 'Mud'...here are our thoughts:
Casey:
Dear Rotten Tomato, you lied.
You gave this movie a 98%...I would have gone with an 8%. I would also like to point out that I am literally writing this review IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE. What can I say...i'm bored. I was excited about this movie from the description...but I was expecting something more along the lines of 'big fish' or something a bit more epic. Suffice to say I am disappointed.
Dean:
Perchance I had watched this movie before Dallas Buyers Club, this review may have been somewhat more positive. I think I was expecting some brilliant, moving performance as part of the McConaissance, and to some degree it was. The movie did move so s...l...o...w...l........y.................
Overall, the story was good with touching parallels between Mud and Ellis. The individual performances by the actors and actresses were well done. (And here I am, feeling like I'm writing a clinic not on a sick patient. Hmmm...how to make this review less boring than the movie...)
I'm not sure I'd watch this one over and over, but it was a fine one-timer. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give this a 6 because it was acted well.
Leah:
Well, Matthew McCona-howeveryouspellhisname did fine, but this isn't one I'd pick to watch again. Pretty sure the snakes scared by hot hubby.
Seth:
it was cew.
