aaaaaaaaaand we're back! you can all stop calling and flooding our in-boxes. we know, we know...you missed us.
For the April meeting of LHFCC, we viewed 'The King's Speech'. We are changing the format a bit. Instead of individual reviews, we will have combined reviews: Holans & Lorimers (although i'm sure you will all miss Seth's riveting and profound reviews).
Lorimers:
Well, the picture looks like we're bored, but Colin Firth keeps this one enrapturing for the entirety of the film. Acting = superb. Not kidding, it deserved every Oscar. Ever. The plot = moving and wonderful. I think every person can relate to King George's plight in some way. Funny, moving, sad, beautiful. Balls. And ti...nevermind.
Holans:
This movie was actually amazing. I say 'actually' because I thought it was going to be incredibly boring. The acting was remarkable, but it was the interaction between the leading character and the supporting character that kept the movie moving forward. There was just enough humor sprinkled throughout the film to keep it from being dry, but not too much to take away from the seriousness of the subject matter. On the surface it appears to be a movie about speech therapy, but in reality, it was a movie about the human condition during a scary time in our history. Fear can be as blatant as the sound of cannons, or as subtle as a stutter. (mic drop- Holans out)
Average rating of the LHFCC: 7.5
